Our Executive Team
Zac Hatton
Zac brings 19 years of extensive experience in law enforcement, administration, personal protection, and policy writing. His current role with a division of law enforcement in Tarrant County involves performing dignitary protection operations, writing departmental policies, conducting background investigations, and planning and executing high-risk search, rescue, and recovery operations. His previous position with the Azle Police Department involved managing patrol shifts, ensuring compliance with policies, conducting internal affairs and criminal investigations, and providing civilian training.
Zac's key competencies include policy development and training. His expertise extends to security and dignitary protection, security hardening, and identifying physical threats, risks, and vulnerabilities. He is a TCOLE Master Peace Officer, is TCOLE certified in Executive Protection for LE and holds a Level IV Personal Protection Officer License as well as a Private Investigator’s License in the State of Texas. These skills and experiences position him as a vital leader in overseeing operations and ensuring comprehensive security solutions at Blacklands Security Group.
Daniel Coffman
Dan brings critical expertise to our team with his robust background in quality assurance and compliance. He has held pivotal roles at TTI, Inc., where he streamlined workflows and protected company liabilities by ensuring adherence to international standards. His tenure as a Quality Engineer further enhanced his skills in resolving complex disputes, managing multi-step investigations, and developing processes to meet evolving customer expectations and international standards.
Daniel’s qualifications include LEAN Six Sigma Green Belt, Level III Commissioned Security Certification and Anti-Counterfeit Avoidance and Detection certifications. These credentials underscore his commitment to excellence, process improvement, and stringent compliance standards. At Blacklands Security Group, Daniel leverages his extensive experience and certifications to uphold the highest levels of security and compliance, ensuring our services are both effective and cutting-edge.
Maxwell Coats
Maxwell brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the role. As a Licensed Surgical Assistant with over seven years of independent practice, he has developed a deep understanding of surgical procedures and patient care. His background includes years of general OR experience at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Alliance and as a CST/CSFA at Holy Cross Germantown Hospital.
Maxwell's educational credentials include a Bachelor of Science and an Associate of Applied Science in Surgical Technology. He holds certifications as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) and Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting, as well as Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association and is a Licensed Surgical Assistant. He also holds a Level III Commissioned Security License in the Sate of Texas. His diverse surgical experience and professional certifications underscore his critical role in providing medical expertise and guidance at Blacklands Security Group.
Joey Lopez
Joey brings a diverse background in logistics and security to his role. His extensive experience includes leading teams, training new employees, and managing quality control across various operations. At Ben E. Keith, he excelled in building strong business relationships and ensuring product quality, while his earlier roles involved maintaining operational safety and efficiency in both logistics and facilities maintenance.
Joey holds a Level III Commissioned Security License, highlighting his expertise in security protocols and compliance. His roles have equipped him with the skills to manage complex logistical operations and maintain high standards of safety and efficiency. His comprehensive background ensures that Blacklands Security Group benefits from his strategic approach to logistics and security management.
Tom Plemmons
Tom contributes his experience in project management, inventory control, and operational excellence. With career highlights that include leading projects in the oil & gas industry and managing warehouse operations for multiple companies in oil & gas, 3PL and the plastics industry, Tom has a proven track record of improving processes, establishing standard operating procedures, and coordinating cross-functional teams. His experience spans from managing inventory for billion-dollar assets to implementing new systems and training plans.
Tom’s expertise is further supported by his certifications, including a Google Cybersecurity Professional Certificate and a Level IV Personal Protection Officer License. He is currently studying to complete his CompTIA Security+ certification as a continuing education effort. His comprehensive knowledge in process design, security frameworks, and threat assessment ensures that Blacklands Security Group benefits from his strategic oversight and operational acumen.
